Patrick McElwee began his career in interior design in New York City. Having graduated from Pratt Institute in 1974 with highest honors, he stayed there to gain the experience of working for a wide range of world renowned architects and designers. He was employed at the architectural firms of Edward Larabee Barnes, as well as Skidmore Owings and Merrill. He also worked for the prominent design firms of Parish-Hadley, Mark Hampton, Joseph Paul D’Urso and Noel Jeffrey. During his17 years on the East coast, he gained a professional reputation and personal recognition.

Wanting to relocate in the West, he was recruited to work for Fort Worth designer Tonny Foy. This period of his career prepared him for his own entrepreneurial efforts. In 1993, he formed his own firm – Patrick McElwee Design. His firm’s work is found throughout the country, but has a heavy concentration in the Dallas – Fort Worth area. The office of Patrick McElwee Design provides complete interior design services for residential, corporate and medical projects.
